CASA CENTRAL’S TECHNOLOGY CENTER - SUCCESS STORIES

Featured Success Story

I'm from Guatemala and I have lived here in Chicago for five years. My first language is a dialect, my second language is Spanish and my third language is English. I am proud of what I have learned and know I can use the computer. Three or four months ago I did not understand anything about computers and now I can type a letter and I can burn CD and DVD's. I learned more than the basics and all the computer skills I have learned here at Casa Central. I wanted to say Thank you to my instructor Pablo a great teacher.

Youth Success

When I started taking the computer classes I started with the expectation to learn about computers. I have learned a lot thanks to the instructor Mr. Castro. Mr. Castrro is very knowledgable in the material he teaches and presents it in a way that it is easy for students to understand. I tried to teach myself using books that I read but I was not successful. The techniques used in the class and the patience of the professor makes it easier to learn. I am very grateful to Casa Central for the opportunity that it has offered me to keep up to date with today's technology. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to motivate others to make use of this superb program that would help and benefit anyone who participates. My future with computer knowledge is assured.Once again I give thanks to Casa Central and to the professor for his support in helping the community excel.

College Success

The Casa Central Word class has helped me very much. I wanted to thank the Organization for the support that makes this service available to the community. I have gained the fundamentals of using Microsoft word program and the use of computers in general. I am an older student so it can at times be intimidating to go back to school to learn something new. I have also learned to feel more comfortable in using the computer. Classes in regular school are scheduled at times that are inconvenient for my time schedule and I simply cannot afford the cost that is charged by them. Mr. Pablo Castro is a good teacher. He is very patient with the students; He does so until the student understands the ideas that are being taught. This is one feature that is often missing from schools. He gives each student individual attention before, during, and after the class to answer any questions that they may have and are to frighten to ask in front of the class. The class is composed of older adults who are at different educational levels and learn at different speed. I find this to be a wonderful service to the community and I have noticed more people are using the computer lab to get information on the internet and to find work. Many people come in to type their resume and cover letters. During open lab Mr. Castro answers their questions and tries to give them help to complete their projects. This computer lab is important to the community is not just for internet but for the classes that are offered. The library offer very little resources in this area.
